Weather Watchers

June 17 - June 21

8:30 am - 12:00 pm

Program Fee: $300/$325/$335

New Camp

Campers will become weather watchers for the week and discover the wonders of weather and the science behind tracking and adapting ourselves to it! Our Young Meteorologists will build tornados, thermometers, and anemometers. They will also explore and build the engineering structures that are designed to withstand hurricanes and other natural disasters. Learn about thunderstorms, clouds, how to read a weather map, how to understand radar, and more.  The camp will include a trip to a local meteorology station.

This exciting new camp is led by Sarah Austin.  Sarah is a certified trained storm spotter.  “After seeing my first tornado when I was 8, I became very interested in how they form.  My brothers and I have been studying and chasing tornados since 2002. We help put the warnings out, are trained in search and rescue, help remove debris from the road, and document weather events.   In addition to tornados, we have experienced hurricanes, flash floods, hail, lightning, and snow. Some of our footage has been on Good Morning America and The Weather Channel.  Excited to share and learn about one of my passions, the weather”.  Program fee is $300 if registered by April 15th; Program fee is $325 if registered April 16th – May 15th; Program fee is $335 if registered after May 15th.
