Horseback Riding Week I

Elective without Day Camp: $300/$310/$320

Back by popular demand, students will have an introduction to the wonderful world of horses.  Instruction will be held on the grounds of the Haile Plantation Equestrian Center and led by the experienced staff of Haile Equestrian Center.  Transportation will be provided daily by Haile Plantation Equestrian staff.  Campers will learn the basics of horse care, different breeds of horses, grooming, nutrition, and veterinary care, as well as an introduction to the various riding styles including western, dressage, and eventing.  Campers will be taught the basics of English riding through hands-on mounted and unmounted activities. The week will culminate on Friday with a demonstration of everything they have learned!

Safety is our #1 priority and all riders are required to wear helmets (provided) and wear closed-toe shoes.

Program fee is $200 with OHLS Day Camp, $300 without OHLS Day Camp, if registered by April 15th; Program fee is $210 with OHLS Day Camp, $310 without OHLS Day Camp, if registered April 16th – May 15th; Program fee is $220 with OHLS Day Camp, $320 without OHLS Day Camp, if registered after May 15th.

  • Elective camps are optional and may be taken in conjunction with the Lower School Day Camp
  • Campers not wanting to attend Lower School Day Camp may enroll in elective camps.
  • Morning care is available beginning at 7:30 am in the multipurpose room of the Lower School.  No morning care available at Haile Equestrian.
  • Campers not enrolled in the Lower School Day Camp must be picked up between 11:50 am and 12 noon 
  • A separate waiver will be emailed prior to the start of camp and is required for participation.
