Jeffrey A. Malloy Oak Hall School Summer Camp Scholarship

The Jeffrey A. Malloy Oak Hall School Summer Camp Scholarship

The Jeffrey A. Malloy Oak Hall School Summer Camp Scholarship was established in 2021 with the inaugural award being selected for the Summer of 2022.  The scholarship was established to honor Mr. Malloy for his service to Oak Hall School during the COVID 19 pandemic when he served as the COVID administrator.  Summer camp has been an influential and integral part of his life since 1980 when he first attended a residential summer camp as a curious 10-year-old.  His camp tag line was “the experience that lasts a lifetime”.  During the same summer, he attended a day camp program but just didn’t have the same experience.  At resident camp, Jeff experienced the power of camp and that is what has driven him for more than 30 years in the industry.  No matter the setting, he always wants kids to have the experience that he had at residential camp, which was so impactful in his life, ultimately becoming his life’s work.  He firmly believes kids need camp, a summer home, and has never denied a kid the summer camp experience supporting his goal of getting “every kid to camp”.

Jeff is an adopted child and summer camp was so valuable for him and his family at a time of family transition.  This scholarship has been established particularly for families who have a financial need with adopted children; families who are fostering children; or single parent homes where the power of camp can be meaningful and impactful for the child and the family.  The scholarship provides a full summer of summer camp programming, at no cost, in the Oak Hall Summer Program.  One award will be presented each summer and preference is given to Oak Hall families.

Families who meet qualification criteria should complete the Need Based Financial Assistance packet and attach a letter establishing their qualification and desire for consideration of this scholarship.  Applications are due by May 1 each year.

Scholarship includes application fee, camp/course fee for the entirety of the Oak Hall Summer Programs operating schedule, and any “plus” fees.  Camps run by third party vendors are exempt from this award.  Please contact the Summer & Auxiliary office for those exemptions or with questions.
